GRAYLING MAIN STREET CANCELS ANNUAL HARVEST FESTIVAL
GRAYLING, Mich., (September 9, 2019)
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
It is with regret that we announce, Grayling Main Street will not be hosting the annual Grayling Harvest Festival in Downtown Grayling in October 2019.
“Unfortunately, we do not have the community or committee support to host the event this year,” Grayling Main Street Director, Rae Gosling, said regarding the cancellation.
The Grayling Main Street Board of Directors was advised of the situation, and despite attempts to partner with other local programs, a suitable plan for this year was out of reach. The Board Chair’s adherence to the program’s policy of cancelling events that lack sufficient volunteer support, has resulted in the cancellation of the 2019 Grayling Harvest Festival.
Several of the Downtown Grayling businesses have expressed intent to offer in store promotions that will run concurrent with the GPA Fall Arts and Crafts Show, on October 5th, 2019.
If you would like to see the Grayling Harvest Festival return to Downtown Grayling next year, please contact Grayling Main Street, via email, DowntownGrayling@gmail.com, to be included in future Harvest Festival Volunteer communications.

This makes me very sad. Did we even have meeting to discuss this ? I am on a few mainstreet commuters and was not contacted . I was not included if we did. ?
Gail – This was discussed at several meetings following last year’s event, as well as a few meetings earlier in 2019. It was also taken to a few former committee members who were unable to take the project up again. The project did not have Board support, and was unfortunately not aggressively recruited for, based on 2 previous years of declining committee support. We are glad to see people taking an interest in the program now, and are looking forward to a revival in 2020. This is a difficult, but not uncommon, issue events face across the country.
